The program
ROV Pilot Technician Course
Phase 2: Simulation
Phase 2 is the core of the training path. Through the in-class simulator, students enter a realistic yet controlled operational environment where they can build method, precision, and confidence before moving on to real ROV operation. This phase allows them to explore different applications, scenarios, and operating conditions, including more challenging ones, in a progressive and repeatable way.
During the simulation sessions, students complete targeted exercises based on typical ROV operations, learning how to control the vehicle, read the scenario, and make effective decisions. The simulator also makes it possible to gradually increase the level of difficulty, strengthening adaptability, communication, and teamwork — all essential skills in any professional operational setting.
For this reason, simulation is not just an introductory step, but the most important part of the course: it is where the technical and operational foundations are built before moving on to hands-on field practice.

Phase 3: Practice
Phase 3 is a practical addition to the training path, designed to complete the experience developed in simulation. In this phase, students have the opportunity to apply the skills they have acquired by using a real ROV system in an operational setting.
During the practical training, the focus is on becoming familiar with the control commands, handling the umbilical, and coordinating team activities. Key operational skills such as situational awareness, orientation, and decision-making are also reinforced, helping students face real-world scenarios with greater confidence.
Phase 3 should therefore be seen as an added value to the course: an important and useful experience, but one that is built on the solid preparation gained through the simulator, which remains the true core of the training program.
