The students at the end of the course will have received an adequate theoretical, technical-practical and diagnostic FO preparation, using the most modern and technological tools and equipment used in the FO sector, thus presenting a dynamic and technologically advanced career.

  3. Fiber optic vs copper, signal and speed. Pros and defects
  4. Light propagation, reflection and refraction concept
  5. Electromagnetic spectrum


Module 2

  1. Singlemode and Multimode fiber and related sections
  2. Optical fiber structure
  3. Types of optical fiber cables
  4. Types of connectors and features


Module 3

  1. Metric measurement system
  2. Signal measurement and dispersion (dB)
  3. International measurement standards
  4. International FO wiring standards


Module 4

  1. Connectivity, lapping, mechanical and with splicing
  2. FO verification, visual and with instrumentation
  3. Measurement and diagnostic tools
  4. Use of the Microscope
  5. Light source
  6. Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)


Module 5

  1. Safety
  2. Work safely with the FO
  3. Potential risks caused by the laser
  4. Potential risks caused by glass filaments
  5. Work planning and material selection
  6. Electromagnetic compatibility and choice of materials / components
  7. Risk assessment
  8. Disposal of special residues FO



At the end of the course each candidate will be evaluated through a theory check and a practical test.
